TNT wrapped up their summer set with Chicagoland, the first Saturday night race there for NASCAR. Qualifying was rained out so that put point leader Kyle Busch on the pole with Dale Earnhardt Jr. starting alongside 2nd in points. Busch dominated the first leg of the race cut short by a mandatory yellow to check for tire wear. Busch and Edwards then began to dominate. Then, Denny Hamlin's engine blew and he had to retire. Tony Stewart also led alot towards the middle part of the race but wasn't a factor at the end. Carl Edwards was however a factor throughtout the race but his splitter broke loose and that forced Carl to hit the pits and go a lap down to fix it. The final caution was drawn for David Gilliland blowing a motor. That smoke cloud could be seen around the whole racetrack and made for quite a sight. This break was important for Kyle Busch to get one last stab at Jimmie Johnson for the race lead. But Johnson was hungry to defend the lead since he hadn't won since Phoenix in the Spring. After the restart, it was a thrilling battle between Johnson and Busch. Kyle was tucked to the 48's bumper accelerating and made the pass soon after along the backstretch. Kevin Harvick was watching this battle closely back in 3rd but Kyle managed to fend off Jimmie and Kevin to register win sevn of the year for JGR's #18 car. 7 for 19 ain't too shabby. Johnson got 2nd and Harvick followed in 3rd. Three Chevys, three Fords, three Toyotas, and one Dodge pulled off Top 10 finishes. Brian Vickers continued his summer streak coming home sixth.

The Top 10:
1. #18 Kyle Busch (Toyota)
2. #48 Jimmie Johnson (Chevrolet)
3. #29 Kevin Harvick (Chevrolet)
4. #16 Greg Biffle (Ford)
5. #20 Tony Stewart (Toyota)
6. #83 Brian Vickers (Toyota)
7. #17 Matt Kenseth (Ford)
8. #6 David Ragan (Ford)
9. #1 Martin Truex Jr. (Chevrolet)
10. #12 Ryan Newman (Dodge)

Cup would head to Indianapolis for the annual Brickyard 400 in two weeks and the weekly stretch till Homestead.
