Restart Grid Placement System Empty Restart Grid Placement System

Post by Burnout Wed Sep 01, 2010 2:00 am

New to SCARTS is a grid located along the backstretch of each track used to place players in double file formation for each restart during a yellow. I'll go into it in depth here so it isn't confusing.

Restart Grid Placement System Restar10

-Cautions-
As we have done before, when somebody calls a yellow flag (YEL) for a crash, the field slows down into a steady pace to allow for the other players to catch back up into a line. Pitroad becomes closed after YEL is called so no pitting takes place during that period until the race admin says PIT, or runs the macro stating that pitlane is open. Drivers have the option to pit after pitlane opens so some people will go into pitlane and some people will choose not to.

Now in the past, we would continue pacing until everyone is caught up from pitting before the race admin decides its time for a restart, saying RS.

But now, once the race admin opens pitlane and people pit or not, the next time drivers approach the backstretch 1-12 grid, drivers will park in those spaces in the order they reach it. The first guy to the grid parks in #1, the second guy to get there parks in #2, third guy in #3, so on. (This is not to be confused with your pitstall number.) This system forms us up for the restarts and puts each driver in the correct lane for them.

-Leader placement-
Even though the leader has preference of which lane to pick, the first guy to the grid must still park in slot #1 to avoid confusion. Once we begin rolling again for the restart, the leader may choose to switch lanes with 2nd place if desired.

-Free Passes-
Anyone who receives a free pass during a caution flag must not drive around the field to get that lap back until after pitstops conclude and drivers begin lining up along the backstretch to get in formation. At that time, its then ok to drive around and get your lap back as the field waits in the backstretch. As usual, cars a lap down or more may choose to get a 'wavearound' as long as they don't make a stop in the pits during the caution. All lap cars must line up next in line on the grid before the field rolls for the restart.

-Once the Grid is Set-
Once all cars are in double file formation along the backstretch grid, we will start rolling again and restart the next time by, unless the admin states otherwise.

-Overview-
This system is designed to place drivers in their CORRECT restart lines. Positions 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 must always be in the inside lane and positions 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 must always be on the outside lane. There is NO such thing as choosing your lane for an advantage UNLESS YOU ARE THE LEADER and this system makes sure of that.

I hope this makes sense and thanks for reading up on this! Cya on track!
