Allow Startfuel change for bonus point hopes for 2010?

I had modified the rules for earning bonus points recently. Instead of the one driver earning bonus points for leading the first lap, I decided to allow anyone who leads a lap during the first 20 laps to earn bonus points as well.

This got me thinking.

Should we allow startfuel changes for the beginning of the race? That would give poor qualifiers a better chance maybe of racing to the front by the 20 lap mark. Those up front may not necessarily want to change startfuel but it could be advantageous to those in the rear to have their shot at leading a lap.

This could create some GREAT racing early on in the event.

I like the old method better. It just makes it equal in the beginning, we've never had a flaw with our old system. I hope to keep it!

Hey, I'm all for the racing... Let's mix it up!

Well this method sort of mirrors the real NASCAR bonus points format. Everyone has the shot to gain five bonus points leading a lap but only one person gets the second bonus. Capping this off at 20 makes it harder for everyone to lead a lap and becomes more of a whiteknuckle fight at the start of the race. Lap 1 being led is basically anybody who starts in the first two positions and leaves poor qualifiers in the dust. This new method actually sort of spiked Mike Nike's interest. He always commented that the first 180 laps are pointless in our series and having something to race for during the earlier parts of the race is more fun at least to him. Its like a race within a race.

I would have to disagree, but I like how it mirrors the new points system so I'm all for trying!
