Windows 7 Test Postponed... Empty Windows 7 Test Postponed...

Post by Guest Sat Oct 24, 2009 7:08 am

OK, due to some technical difficulties involving my connection, the Windows 7 test scheduled for later today, October 24th at 4 PM EST, has been postponed. Apparently, someone hacked into my router connection and used up my bandwidth limit. I'm only allowed 8GB a week, but apparently, someone was illegally downloading off of mine and went 4 GB over the limit, so the school disabled my connection until the 29th. I can't use the school's connection because wi-fi is unreliable in the dorms and I can't log into any other wired connection without extending my suspension....I'll post a poll later today to reschedule, and no, I don't plan on rescheduling the race on Halloween.

I've tested bandwidth use before. Turbo Sliders doesn't do much at all for bandwidth consumption, maybe 0.01 MB every second or so. So if you play a 40 minute race with us on the server, you may use only 24 MB (0.024 GB). Most likely it'll be a little less than that, that is probably the upper bound.

-MSN does practically nothing luckily. rFactor though can maybe eat up 100+ MB in one 16 lap race on the VHR mod.

If you want to track your bandwidth usage by day, try this program:

Apparently, they only take into consideration actual downloading and uploading sizes. So bandwidth that is used from online gaming doesn't count (because a majority of college students play games online, otherwise, it would be way too easy to go over the 8 GB limit)...

Here's a photo of what the University shows me...
