The SCARTS Times - Edition 1 - 9/4/09
Edition 1 - 9/4/09
Hey everyone, Burn here, I'm going to attempt a new series of updates about what's going on with the Drivers of the NSCS, NNWS, and NCWS.
Breaking News:
Carl Edwards, driver of the #99 Ford Aflac in the SCS and the #60 Ford Save-A-Lot in the NWS fractured his right foot while playing frisbee with his "buddies".
"I know this probably sounds ridiculous to a lot of people and I could hardly believe it myself," Edwards said in a team release. "I was playing Frisbee with a couple of buddies and we both went for the Frisbee at the same time. I put my foot on it, my friend dove for it, and the next thing you know ... we all heard a pop.
"I knew it was broken and we all kind of looked at each other in disbelief that of all things, I would break my foot playing Frisbee. I immediately went to the doctor and have been working with a great team of people at the University of Missouri who work with all the college teams here. They have me on crutches to help me walk but said I could race in both races this weekend and shouldn't have a problem using the accelerator."
This sure won't slow his push for the Chase. The Cup race is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and Edwards will race.

In other news:
- Veteran driver Bobby Labonte has been relieved of his driving duties in the #96 due to sponsership reasons.
The 2000 Cup Series champion's streak of 568 consecutive starts may remain intact through the end of this season, thanks to a last-minute deal from TRG Motorsports owner Kevin Buckler.

- And in rather boring and annoying news, Tom Cruise will be narrating Together: The Hendrick Motorsports Story, the name is self-explanatory. And many may ask why Tom Cruise, a rich, scientologist actor will narrate a story from NASCAR. Well, I can't answer that folks...

And that's all for our first edition of the SCARTS Times, updates will be made daily (2-3 times a week at most ).
