RESULTS: SCARTS All-Star Race

SCARTS held the third annual SCARTS All-Star Race, unfortunately the SCARTS Showdown did not occur but the All-Star Race itself was incredible. Lots of good racing all night long at a newly improved Lowe's Motor Speedway. The racing has matured alot and it definately put on a good show for the annual event. Burnout earned the pole for the All-Star event and had a fairly dominant first half of Segment 1 until fuel strategy mired him in the field a bit. Scorpio managed to beat out Fastman and Burnout to win the first 50 lap segment. Scorpio however got penalized for not making a mandatory pitstop earlier on which stripped him of the bonus points up for grabs for that segment.

The field was then inverted for Segment 2 putting Scorpio dead last for the next 20 lap segment. The top half finishers were then able to manipulate their fuel strategy for the next two 20 lap segments. Burnout adjusted his and looked to have a good strategy worked out to win Segment 2, but Chess was coming on strong and edged Burnout at the line to win Segment 2 by 0.004 seconds.

Segment 3 was virtually identical to Segment 2, however there was no invert to begin it. The same three who changed fuel in Segment 2 were granted the option to do so again. This time Burnout managed to make the fuel strategy work to win Segment 3 over Chess by 0.006 seconds.

The final segment was no fuel and no cautions. Burnout fell back early on the start but clawed back into contention behind a heated battle between Chess and Scorpio. Chess was fighting hard but eventually cracked enough to allow Scorpio and Burnout to pass by. Scorpio had a good enough lead with 3 laps to go to hold off a charge by Burnout. Congrats to Scorpio on his excellent win.
