I personally think the chase is going to be a big factor in deciding the championship this year. Kyle Busch needs to get in or his wins are meaningless for a championship. Mark Martin would be leading in points when the chase starts, and there is still 6 more to go. If Jeff Gordon wants a shot at it he will have to get some more wins before the times up.

Jeff Gordon wants this 5th cup, he is so close to tasting it. Mark Martin really wants it too, but he needs to be more consistant.

Consistency wins you a championship, and though Johnson has been consistent, look at Tony Stewart this year. He has finished NO WORSE than 7th in the last eight races, seven of those eight races were Top 5s. I crunched some average finishes since the 'Race to the Chase' started at Loudon and only three drivers have average finishes within the Top 10 (better than 10.00): Tony Stewart (3.25), Jimmie Johnson (5.00), and surprisingly Kasey Kahne (8.75). Everyone else has averaged below a 10.00 (worse than 10th) since Loudon. In reality I see the battle between Stewart and Johnson based on the numbers now, but Stewart has yet to show weakness in the last eight races and looks to be running away with the title. We'll see what happens.
