EDITING THE TABLES Empty EDITING THE TABLES

Post by Burnout Fri Jun 19, 2009 10:22 am

Due to the "Switch Editor" mode added into the tables, its screwing up my tables if somebody else modifies them without knowing how to do it properly. Unless you know what to do, PLEASE DO NOT modify the tables because it is a pain to reformat them all the time.

Unless you keep wanting to, here is what you MUST do to edit the table properly.

1. Hit "EDIT" for any table you would like to modify.
2. Hit the aA button on the toolbar above the text box (likely shaded in red), and make sure the shade of red goes away on the icon. That turns the table into code.
3. Hit Back on your internet browser to return to the topic as if you are cancelling your edit
4. Hit "EDIT" again on that same table. You will notice the coding layout has changed, a more horizontal form. That form IS PREFERED for editing as you can easily copy and paste lines of code in various places in the forum. Such a method is VERY HARD to do in any other form and it doesn't make the table spaces fat. (If the coding layout does not change when hitting EDIT again, that means the coding was already corrupted without being fixed and needs a manual fix to look good. That is where it gets time consuming.)

I hate to be such a pest about this especially since everyone wants to help as a moderator or admin, but PLEASE either follow this method to edit, or don't do it at all. I know it 'appears' easier to modify the visual table but the way I typically sort the code should be self explanatory to learn in itself. Tables with several rows and columns sometimes take up to 10 minutes to fix. Please pay attention. :/

EDITING THE TABLES Empty Re: EDITING THE TABLES

I'm not mad at anybody. I'm just a bit frustrated with having to fix the tables over and over again. Anytime you 'Save' in the visual form, the coding becomes permenantly screwed up in a vertical form which makes it extremely difficult to copy and paste and find the right stuff to copy. For some reason, it adds in extra spaces which makes the table cells expand and get fatter. The visual table I guess is useful for those who aren't familar with HTML coding, but it is nearly impossible to format.

I 'want' you guys to help as long as you realize how to format the table without it 'corrupting' itself.
